Reduce soil temperatures, prevent bolting and bitterness of heat-sensitive crops like lettuce and spinach, and protect pepper and eggplant fruits from sun damage. UV-stabilized black polyethylene is naturally rot and mildew-resistant. This lockstitch knitted cloth is lightweight with improved ventilation and water permeation when compared to woven shade cloth, and can be cut without unraveling. Use 30% shade cloth with solanaceous crops in areas with extremely hot summers, and for cold-loving crops like lettuce, spinach, and brassicas in northern growing zones. Blocks 30% light transmission to crops. 10′ width is ideal for use with low tunnels. 5–7 year lifespan.
