Niwot

A vigorous producer of shiny, attractive black raspberries. Niwot will fruit in the fall, ripening in late August until frost. In addition to the Fall crop, Niwot will also produce a sizable summer crop from late June to mid-July. Compared to Jewel black raspberry, Niwot’s flavor is less intense and fruits will ripen slightly earlier, depending on location. This vigorous variety requires trellising and extra space (3–4′ apart in row). Introduced by Peter Tallman, a private breeder in Colorado. U.S. Plant Patent #27,131.
