With a little practice, knocking down rows of grain and grass cover crops such as rye, buckwheat, and sudangrass becomes a methodical stage in your cover cropping process.Cover crops can be terminated by breaking (crimping) the stems. The crimped stems cut off the flow of water and sugars to the plant. The crimped cover crop is folded down parallel to the ground forming a dense mat on the soil surface effectively forming a nice mulch layer for weed and erosion control.
