Blue Oyster is a dependable producer. Reliable, cold tolerant, and incredibly prolific during early spring or late fall, thriving outdoors. A good option for a grower who is new to log production. It has clusters of dimpled caps attached to thick, tender stems. Caps begin as a deep steel-gray and mature to a muted light gray. A staple gourmet option, these mild and velvety mushrooms are a savory addition to any meal.Colonization Rate: Of the plug spawn strains we offer, oyster mushrooms are the fastest to colonize, taking 6–12 months.Optimal Growing Conditions: Fruiting temperatures ranging from 55–75°F (13–24°C). See our chart: Suitability of Tree Species for Growing Mushrooms on Logs for more information.Notes: Plug spawn is best suited for smaller projects involving 1–10 logs, although some log cultivators may employ them for more extensive projects.
